The problem however is that you have to replace every $ in all the Jquery scripts you are using. Which is a lot of work.

To resolve this conflict, are you saying that I need to go into every javascript listed above & add this line at the top of the script:

jQuery.noConflict();

….and also replace all “$” with “jQuery”?

Do I truly need to edit every script?

I’m banging my head on this stuff all day. I’m so tired & weary of it. I don’t even understand what people are saying is the resolution. My conflict is that my homepageslideshow is conflicting with my tabs. So I was trying to put this noconflict code near those….but I can’t get anything to work for me. So frustrating.

I hope you can offer me some help.

I’m having similar trouble. I’m using jQuery for a slideshow and leightbox for text box effects. The leightbox application uses prototype. I don’t know what exactly is solving the problem but I tried a few things and managed to get both jQuery and prototype/leightbox working in every browser but Internet Explorer. I.E. is giving me a stack overflow error. Any thoughts?

you can do

var $j=JQuery;

now use it

$j(document).ready(function(){

How about running two different versions of jQuery on the same page.
I’ve tried using the noConflict trick for that but I can only get one instance of jQuery to run. Any ideas.

@Alex – basically you have to include this: “jQuery.noConflict();” (minus the quotes obviously) at the top of your jquery script. Then replace all the $ signs in your jQuery with “jQuery” (without quotes). The conflict takes place with the $ sign. Both prototype and jQuery use these…so by doing the no conflict and replacing the $ signs in your jQuery you’re making it unique. I hope this helps!
